Why Does Parent and Family Engagement Matter?

Research tells us that students with engaged parents and families, are more likely to:

  • Learn to read faster (Exhibit faster rates of literacy acquisition.)
  • Have higher grades and test scores.
  • Are promoted and take more challenging classes.
  • Adapt better to school and have better attendance.
  • Have better social skills and behavior.
  • Graduate.
  • Go on to community/technical college or university.

All Pro Dads

Crestwood Middle School has a chapter of All Pro Dad that meets quarterly. “All Pro Dad is the fatherhood program of Family First, a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational and charitable organization. We are on a mission to help you love and lead your family well.”

While the messages are geared toward fathers and father figures, we welcome all fathers, father figures, mothers, grandparents and other family members. The chapter meets monthly over breakfast. The topic varies monthly and includes activities and discussion. Each meeting begins with a positive affirmation from the Dad to the child. The goal is to improve relationships between parents and children.

The first meeting will take place between September - October. Please look for further information via our school website, Parentlink and School Marquee.
