Principal Welcome Back Message

Principal Welcome Back Message
Posted on 03/29/2020

Hello Crestwood Parents, this is Stephanie Nance, Principal. I hope this message continues to find you and your families healthy and safe.

First, we want to thank all of you that completed the parent home technology survey. Your responses allowed us to place devices into the hands of over 200 Crestwood students. Second, we are excited to share that on Tuesday, March 31st, we will be launching our Virtual Learning platform. Our Crestwood Teachers have worked hard to prepare interactive, content-rich and engaging academic lessons for all students. By Monday, March 30th, all students should receive an email from their teachers welcoming them to their new virtual learning classrooms. On March 31st, the first day of virtual learning all parents will begin to receive information from their child’s teachers regarding the Crestwood Virtual Learning Student Code of Conduct, Google Classroom information and access to your child’s virtual classrooms, parent resources, Teacher contact hours and much more.

During this period of virtual instruction, each of our teachers will have Google Classrooms for assigning work to students. Teachers may provide links to video lessons, alternate sources for online tasks, opportunities for virtual interaction with classmates, etc. We are counting on your support to ease this transition. While many of our students are familiar with online coursework, we are aware that there are a number of Crestwood students who are entering this realm for the first time. I have asked our teachers to be flexible and supportive with students to reduce their levels of angst and frustration. Furthermore, I want you to know that our school counselors, Ms. Lisa Hutchins and Ms. Maria Patino, and our Behavior Mental Health Professional, Mr. Chauncy Davis are available via email should your students need emotional support through the process.

Parents, we also ask that you check your email addresses to ensure that your contact information is correct. We want to ensure that we maintain an open line of communication with our parents. As parents, I know these times are unprecedented. However, please know that we are committed to ensuring that all of our students receive quality academic instruction. Along with weekly updates provided by our Teachers, information will also be posted on our Crestwood website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

As the faculty and staff of Crestwood Middle School, we can assure you that our focus remains on our students and their academic needs. We thank you parents for your partnership and as we embark upon this journey together, we look forward to cultivating a healthy and successful virtual learning environment for all students.

Thank you.

Stephanie Nance, Ed.D.
